for this task, we had to create two sets of videos which demonstrates our understanding of cameras techniques. for the first video, we had To create a portfolio of conventional camera shots appropriate to a Horror film trailer, and to analyse the meaning and the effect it has on the audience. for the second video, we created a portfolio of iconic horror scenes found in horror film trailer, and had to analyse the meaning and the effect it has on the audience.
Prodcution
For the Pre-Production, we created a video to demonstrate our understanding of camera framing and composition skills. Also, to demonstrate our filming skills. we filmed basic camera shots such as Close Ups and Long Shots which are used in horror trailers. This is acts as a foundation for our upcoming trailer that we are going to make. We are going to use the training that we have acquired and we are going to apply it to our trailer. Although the lighting is not appropriate for a horror trailer, it's just practice for the actual thing. We will use the appropriate lighting, props and etc. to create our horror trailer.
In this video, we explored typical conventional horror scenes found in horror trailers and experimented on our composition skills and framing skills. In this video, we explored typical conventions found in horror films such as low-key lighting to make it more like a horror film. This demonstrates our understanding of the horror genre and that we know of the iconic horror scenes in horror films. We could use some of these iconic scenes and apply to our trailer so it can stand out as a horror trailer to an audience.
conclusion
Over the course of the camera training, I've learnt a lot of things i didn't know prior the training. There are etiquettes for when filming a trailer. The actor should not be positioned directly in the middle of the camera as it is wrong. They must be positioned slightly to the left or right of the camera. it's also referred to as 'the rule of thirds'. Using this rule draws the viewer's eyes into the composition and framing, rather THAN GLARING INTO THE CENTRE. also, you have to record at an angle so you can create depth within the shot.
